The Spirituality of The Indian Concept

From the dawn of thought the Indian concept has always attempted to transcend the material, the worldly and the transitory.

Life on earth with all its sensory manifestations was considered as Maya, an illusion which is unreal. To have recognized the futility of material life at a time when the rest of the world was not able to comprehend it and further to have proclaimed that life is beyond the body as the only reality, a reality that is of the spirit, was indeed the very essence of the religious thought in India from very early day.

All religious which originated in India were just different forms and methods of realizing this goal of a perfect life in the spirit, totally subjugating the material even annihilating the material to release the spirit.

As we have seen the Indian concept is one which is strongly inclined to the concept of good actions according to which one’s life is shaped, the doctrine of transmigration of souls, and the rest are rooted in actions that one does.

They emphasize that man is what he does but gospel of Christ comes from a diametrically opposite premise, which is that action reflects what the man is.

It is not the doing that determines, but rather it is the being that provides the basis for doing. No man is saved by doing anything. Everyone is saved by being. Doing is only the spontaneous reaction of being.

The being matures by personal faith in universal Redeemer who makes everything new. If any man be in Christ he becomes a new creature.

Therefore, no one can receive salvation by their own deeds and good works, but rather, only through Jesus Christ our Lord.

May the Lord Jesus bless you, and help you to understand the realities of God's truth --- Amen.

Sincerely,
